Communicate, get inspired, learn, and have fun with your Living Connections!

Here are a few ideas, lifted from the Living Connections instruction booklets.

FEELINGS SET     -game-

goal: develop fluency with feelings vocabulary, understand one's own triggers, explore feelings in a fun, simple, playful way.

HOT POTATO: FEELING FLUENCY:

1. Heat up one FEELING bag (1-2 min) so it's a little hot!

2. Player 1 quickly names a feeling from the bag and throws it to Player 2.

3. Player 2 quickly names a "trigger" for the feeling Player 1 named, then fast, names a different feeling

4. Player 2 tosses the bag to the next player, who then names a "trigger" for that new feeling, then continues the game.

NEEDS SET

-fun idea-

goal: connect and empathize lovingly and silently with your child (or anyone).

Sometimes when my children have big feelings and don't want to talk, I warm a bag of needs or feelings up to a nice soothing temperature, and toss them the bag saying "I think I understand. I'm here whenever you'd like to talk"

This gives little gesture of care and respect (with a dash of playfulness) almost always gets a moment of connection and conveys the message that I am holding their experience with love and compassion even if silently.

NEEDS SET

-game-

goal: Using empathy to understand the character's feelings and motivations behind their actions
